The reason we won this project for The British Library, was due to our costs compared to other main contractors. They also really liked and could see the benefit of everything being taken care of under one roof.
The British Library is the national library of the UK and gives access to the world’s most comprehensive research collection. They have a collection of over 170 million items which include artefacts from every age of written civilisation. They keep the nation’s archive of printed and digital publications, which they add around 3 million new items each year to their collections.
The Planning Stage
Our client had a real vision of what they wanted to create. They wanted to expand their existing learning centre, to be bigger and better than it already was.
The Project
The project was busy from the get go. With the need of mechanical engineering to be deeply involved with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning that was required. Our office refurbishment service was the perfect solution for this project.
The British Library, specifically wanted acoustic panelling created for the room which we sourced from a specialist joinery company.
Acoustic panels are large, soft-furnished panels that can be strategically placed within rooms to improve sound quality. The reason our client wanted these fitted, was because the Learning Centre can sometimes become quite noisy with different classes taking place, so by having these panels installed meant that the noise is mitigated and the sound diffused.

The Solution
Modern, colourful chairs were used to create a fun but professional vibe. With matching colourful coat hooks. The use of the acoustic panels have exceeded their purpose.
The British Library was very pleased with the end result. The expansion of their Learning Centre that was achieved was just how they envisioned it.
